Immigration Vs Public Schooling
After reading part two of School: The story of American Public Education, you are now seeing a much bigger progression of the public educational system. Although the educational system still has its flaws, it has improved very much so from the early 19th century. During this era, we had an expansion of public schools. More and more schools were being built as education was now seen as a necessity and that each child needed to have an education. There was still an issue as to what form of the curriculum the school should be following. Apart from the blossoming for these new schools, American itself was also undergoing many changes and was seen as a place of great opportunity. Immigrants have noticed this as well and saw America and an American dream: a place where their children would have more opportunities then they did.
