The Bottom Line:
After reading the final section of School: The Story of American Public Education, you see the significant change the educational system has undergone from the early eighteenth century to the 1950s and the 2000s. The educational system has gone from not knowing how to educate the children, to be sole exclusive to the white rich families- to the segregation of white children and black children to more than seventy percent of children graduating from high-school and going to college. Although the education system has improved, there are still many faults and changes that needed to be made to reform schooling. The main concern that was discussed was that the United States was not where they should be. Other parts of the world had begun to do much better than America. The Soviets had beat the Americans to space and while Japan began to take over in the auto industry.
